Why Coach a Cyber Team?

This flyer is a good resource with information on why one would consider coaching.

Future Workforce: California has over 36,000 open jobs in cyber security today and this number is expected to grow 3x by 2021. Cyber teams teach valuable skills for cyber career pathways and future jobs. Our nation needs ethical, skilled cyber warriors and the coaches to champion them. 

Rewarding:  Cyber competitions teach valuable skills employers want and successful people have: teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, ethics, public speaking and more. Coaches are the key to guiding students to develop these skills and what better way to give back and be rewarded by seeing students succeed.

Qualifications: Coaches can be parents, teachers, staff, IT professionals, business professionals and/or community organization leaders. Technical expertise is not required.

Responsibilities: Coach’s duties include providing a meeting space and computer for practice, communicating with parents, registering teams for competitions and chaperoning trips. Practices can be 1 hour per week to as many as 4 hours.
